filePro Plus 5.7.01 Release Information

F.P Technologies of Ohio, Inc. is happy to announce the release of 5.07.01 "File Encryption" for filePro Plus as of December 15, 2011. This is an enhanced "FILE ENCRYPTION" feature that is required by some financial institutions and governmental agencies that will allow you to encrypt an ENTIRE DATA file. Field level encryption has been included since 5.6; however, you may now encrypt an entire file with a NEW OPTION under "DEFINE FILES".

In DEFINE FILES, you will use the "O-options" dialog to set up both the encryption key and a license list. Note that Define Files forces the current license to be listed, and you cannot change that. In order to allow encrypted data to be MOVED BETWEEN SYSTEMS, without the need for re-encrypting, the file can not be tied to a specific filePro license; therefore, you must enter all other Licenses that need access to the file.

Example: An "Employee Name" file is used in Personnel,Payroll and other files; therefore, the file needs to be encrypted yet usable to the other applications on the various networked servers with different license numbers. The filePro license listing will allow this file to be accessed by any authorized license included within "Define Files" for that file. This list can only be changed in Define Files, and only after supplying the encryption key. If the current license doesn't match one on the list, filePro will refuse access to the file. Should the client switch developers, they can remove the old developer license key, add the new one, and change the encryption key.

To take advatange of this new feature, you will need to be on 5.7.00 with a current Annual Subscription.
