Before attempting to print this report, make sure your printer is powered on, has paper, and is on-line. Position the top edge of the paper so that it is 3 lines above the print head (this will be the to margin of the report).
1. Take choice “D - Request Output” from the main menu. filePro Plus already knows the tile name is “prod” (you used option E, to set it). For the format name, choose “report”.
2. Bypass the index selection screen, by pressing <RETURN>.
3. Accept the sort screen by pressing <ESC>.
4. To the “Select All Records” prompt, press <Y>. Your report will be sent to your printer.
Now we are finished with the “prod” file so let’s remove “prod” as the current file name.
5. Take choice “E - Set/Change File Name” from the main menu.
6. At the “Enter new file name” prompt just press <RETURN>. You will be returned to the filePro Plus main menu.
Congratulations, you’ve done a great job so far!
Besides learning many of filePro Plus’s features and simple rules, you created an application that really works.
Now we’re going to pick up the tempo and complete our application by working with some files that already exist (we included them with this tutorial). It’s important that you work with the rest of this tutorial in the order the lessons are presented. Each lesson builds on what you have learned in the preceding lesson.
